Wisdom
Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 9:43PM Solomon wanted it more than anything else. (1 Kings 3:5-13)People talk a lot about it. Many spend years studying to achieve it. Yet few truly have it. Wisdom. Consider the important possessions of your life. If all your possessions are taken from you yet you have wisdom you still have great worth.
1. Psalm 19:9The fear of the LORD ispure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous.Psalm 19:8-10(in Context)Psalm 19(Whole Chapter)
2. Psalm 111:10The fear of the LORD isthe beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.Psalm 111:9-10(in Context)Psalm 111(Whole Chapter)
3. Proverbs 1:7The fear of the LORD isthe beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.Proverbs 1:6-8(in Context)Proverbs 1(Whole Chapter)
4. Proverbs 9:10“The fear of the LORD isthe beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.Proverbs 9:9-11(in Context)Proverbs 9(Whole Chapter)
5. Proverbs 14:27The fear of the LORD isa fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death.Proverbs 14:26-28(in Context)Proverbs 14(Whole Chapter)
6. Isaiah 33:6He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge;the fear of the LORD isthe key to this treasure.Isaiah 33:5-7(in Context)Isaiah 33(Whole Chapter)
But if you desire to have it you must know where to find it. Many have pursued wisdom through knowledge. They have built alters with degrees and achievements. Yet they were still fools. There are those who many view as simple yet they have stumbled into truth in a way that has birthed wisdom in their souls.
The beginning of wisdom is reverence for God. The beginning of wisdom is recognizing that God alone is wise. Every piece of wisdom we utter is from him. He alone is the one to whom we can turn.
