Beth Wood

David CollinsBeth Wood is part of the Metro Halifax Vineyard Christian Fellowship. After working in inner city contexts in Canada for a number of years Beth spent 7 years in Brazil mentoring and training in local-church based community development ministries. With her colleague Maurício J.S. Cunha she co-authored the book "O Reino Entre Nós" (The Kingdom Among Us) which offers a biblical Brazilian perspective on the transformation which can occur when local churches actively pursue the advancement of the Kingdom of God in their poor communities.

For a number of years Beth also coordinated "Projeto Equipar" which invited Brazilian Christians to invest in short term discipleship and training opportunities in Angola.  Beth graduated with a Masters in Ministry degree from St. Stephen's University in 2005 and also holds a Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University.

At present Beth works locally, regionally and nationally to multiply a vision of the justice of the Kingdom of God. Beth equips local churches  to engage with the marginalized in their own neighbourhoods and among those who suffer poverty  throughout the world. Beth has a continuing involvement in Brazil and in Africa investing through training and mentoring  those who are building community among  the poor.

Beth is passionate about a biblical view of the Kingdom of God in effectively reaching those who are poor. She often speaks about the biblical bases of the work and emphasizes the importance of speaking to worldview issues in the process of development. Beth often helps local churches with the initial steps of engaging in their communities.

Beth is available to local churches desiring to move forward into long term strategies from an asset- based community development perspective.  Beth may be reached at bethwood@vineyard.ca
